The McCreary Centre Society is a small non-profit organization concerned with the health of young people in British Columbia. Since 1977 McCreary has conducted community-based research and projects addressing current youth health issues. The society takes its name from the late Dr. J.F. With over 3,800 members, we are the largest single First Nation Band in British Columbia.
About half of our members live on the Reserve. Ours is a relatively young population, with a large percentage of the population under the age of 35.
We have seven traditional villages. Our total reserve area is currently 2400 hectares (~5900 acres) made up of nine Reserves.
We have been delegated responsibilities for a variety of member services including Children & Families, Education, Health, Housing, Membership, and Social Development.
