Mike Sheehan is an experienced and innovative youth educator, facilitator, song initiator and freestyle rap artist who specializes in using vocal arts to create dynamic group experiences.

Mike has been leading groups of all sizes in song for over ten years. Mike has trained with several choir directors over the years and is a graduate of Victoria’s Gettin’ Higher Choir’s Community Choir Leadership Training (six month program).

Mike has a remarkable ability in providing structure for experienced singers to expand their creative edge while creating an inclusive, engaging and inspiring experience for first time singers.

His programs are high paced, innovative and fun for all levels.

Mike uses creative warm-up games and exercises, layered melodies, 4 part harmonies, South African Gum Boot Rhythms, and Hip Hop influenced vocal percussion to create artful group experiences and performances.

Mike’s repertoire of songs spans many cultures with a deep respect for the people who created them and the cultural context of each song.

Singing together in groups is a timeless art. It creates identity, strengthens community, provides inspiration and a sense of ownership in creating our culture. Mike’s workshops act as a catalyst in young people finding joy, feeling equipped and inspired to act on creating a world they want to live in.
